Main features: Al Bayadia is an ancient city near the historical city of Luxor. It is known for being an agricultural city in the Luxor Governorate as well as for it’s historical heritage. Part of the governorate, close to it’s capital Luxor and bordering the Nile river makes of It a strategic place where it can benefit economically at many levels.

Main economic activities:

Due to the character of Al Bayadia, the main economic sector of activity is agriculture. The agricultural sector in the village is of great significance where more than 25% of the population work in this sector. Al Bayadia city is characterized by the cultivation of sugar cane, bananas, wheat and corns.

The commercial sector in the city is ranked second after the agricultural sector, such as supermarkets, pulses, spices, livestock trade, fruits and vegetables, most of which depend on agricultural production in the center. Moreover, Tourism plays an important role in the economy of the city, where many historical and leisure sites attract new comers.

Conditions and environmental challenges:

Most of the residents work in traditional governmental and public sector jobs such as education, health, and agencies such as electricity, railways and the others work in agriculture, livestock trade and agricultural crops and benefit from the essential services like electricity to water and road infrastructures.

Climate wise, In addition to scarcity of rain, extreme heat during summer months is also a general climate feature of Al Bayadia and temperatures fluctuates a lot between day and night. Burning agricultural waste is very common there and is a serious problem, generating a lot of Co2 emission and polluting the environment.
