Clima-Med CASs
Clima-Med team, in close coordination with the National Coordination Group (NCG) in each of the seven beneficiary countries of the project, has developed the Climate Action Coordination Strategy (CAS) Report for Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia.
The mainstreaming assessment of these reports shows the convergence of the countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions, NDCs, with the national and local policies and strategies regarding NDC implementation.
The Climate Action Strategy (CAS) reports serve as a vital analytical tool, assisting national authorities in enhancing the integration of climate change considerations into public policies and projects. These reports emphasise the importance of actions for climate mitigation and adaptation. As key documents, they offer recommendations aimed at improving the coordination of climate action—encompassing policies, investment frameworks, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), and capacity building—at both national and local levels. Moreover, each CAS report proposes specific actions designed to reduce vulnerabilities and strengthen the monitoring and evaluation framework. This, in turn, supports the effective integration of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) into the national and local policy frameworks.
Revision in Progress
Clima-Med acknowledges the ongoing dynamic nature of climate policy and coordination. Countries have embarked on revising their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) or have approved national policy frameworks for climate change policy. These pivotal steps have led to shifts in national priorities and have facilitated notable progress in the efficacy of climate policy coordination and NDCs mainstreaming.
In response to requests from the NCGs of beneficiary countries, Clima-Med has actively engaged in revising the CASs with the support of focal points. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that the CAS documents remain aligned with the evolving priorities and requirements of each country’s climate action framework, reflecting the dynamic nature of environmental policy and the imperative for adaptive strategies. Through this engagement, Clima-Med seeks to fortify the efficacy and relevance of these strategic documents.
